Wilmington’s Delaware Art Museum, north of downtown, is delving into its permanent collections for several exciting fall exhibitions. The illustration galleries at the Museum are undergoing a re-installation with the work of Howard Pyle and other American illustrators. The Storyteller’s Art: Reimagining America Through Illustration shows through 2012. Also on the fall schedule, Anne Truitt: Luminosities exhibit is on display through January 8, 2012.
Get ready for a fabulous New Year’s Eve. The Delaware Art Museum and the Delaware Symphony Orchestra are partnering for an amazing New Year’s Eve party. The evening begins at The Grand, with the Delaware Symphony Orchestra performing “Hollywood to Vienna”. Patrons then depart to the museum to ring in the new year with live music, food and champagne – a great party to welcome in 2012.
The historic Grand Opera House in Wilmington has a full schedule of entertainment for residents and visitors. This long time city landmark, located on Market Street, hosts a variety of performers. Join the fun of the Keg Toss and Corn Hole competitions, enjoy live music and sample Delaware’s premier brewers and vintners. The festival is just south of Dover, near Felton, just off Route 13.
NASCAR enthusiasts don’t miss the excitement of Dover International Speedway. North of Dover off State Route 1, the speedway hosts the 2011 NASCAR triple-header weekend September 29th through October 2nd. The series features the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race, The “OneMain Financial 200” NASCAR Nationwide Series race and the “AAA 400” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.
